Unpacking the China-Russia Alliance – Caspian Report

January 26, 2021 by Fulcrum Global Leave a Comment

China and Russia are ancient neighbors with long and complex histories together. However, we have been witnessing a gradual upward trend in friendly relations between the two since the end of the Cold War. This recent presentation by the Caspian Report explores the possibility of an alliance between China and Russia while also addressing the likeliness of it not happening as well. The two countries have similar goals and objectives that are aimed at countering the global leadership of the United States and its allies in the West. However, China and Russia relations still have several remaining competing elements that may prevent a possible alliance from happening. In the end, it will heavily depend on how current and future world leaders navigate and maneuver their countries in this highly competitive geopolitical environment that incorporates realism on a regular basis.
